Mine had two new bags put in at 488 each and then the compressor at 1 300 luckily it was under warranty.

Supplied and fitted it cost me 470 but soon after the air pump started to play up as well.
Due to the leak i had in the airbag it had to work in overdrive.

I had similar problem with previous car s air suspension not bmw and left it too long to address and burned out the compressor.
Gave it to bmw sytner and it was the rear suspension air bag which had a leak in it.
See those little white dots those are on a x5 e70 right rear airbag those are the leaks i found here a better picture customer said the right rear suspension starts to sag when parked for a short time so i took some soap water and sprayed down the airbags sometime this works it s a 50 chance that you find a leak but i got lucky on this one i have also seen the airline.
Any of these parts can fail.

Compressor should only have to work to adjust levelling with load changes but was being over worked to maintain pressure in leaking air bag.
