Never bleach white clothing that is polyester or a polyester cotton blend. You can use white distilled vinegar in the fabric conditioner compartment of your washing machine with your regular detergent. Consider a water softener if you have well water. Luckily you can easily bleach them to restore their original brightness and remove any discoloration. When bleach strips the bluing from the fabric the original yellowish caste is revealed.

I use a 1 2 c. Wash clothing and let it dry in a normal way. Never use bleach on anything synthetic. Rit makes a whites brightener that you can try to get them white again or a dye remover.

Alternatively soaking your clothes in two slices of lemon and hot water should naturally brighten white clothes. Or borax in every load of laundry and have never needed bleach again. Most whites clothes have optical brighteners and are not 100 cotton and that is why they turn yellow w bleach. Remove the paste with plenty of water.

Over time many white clothes start to turn yellow.
